COVID-19 UPDATE
04.03.21
Dear friends of Camp Kernow,
We hope this message finds you and your family in good health, positive spirits and with an air of optimism for the summer months ahead.
The recent government guidelines lifting lockdown restrictions pave the way for camp to reopen and we’re delighted to share the news that we will be recommencing 6 day environmental adventure camps this summer with three scheduled dates in August.
We hope that time spent immersed in nature, living and working together as an off-grid community and engaging in hands on activities will be a restorative and exciting experience for the young people who come here and we cannot wait to welcome them!
The health and wellbeing of our young environmental adventurers and the team who support them is of the upmost importance and we will continually review our operational procedures and risk assessments in accordance with current government and medical advice.
Sadly, given the ongoing Department for Education advice to schools not to undertake educational trips, the vast majority of schools and Academy Trusts we work with have already taken the decision not to go ahead with residential visits in the summer term.
With no potential date in sight for schools being able to resume residential trips and with just a few schools still expressing an interest it’s with heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision not to host any school residentials during the summer term.
We will be in touch with all the schools we work with to offer potential dates for summer 2022 and hope that it won’t be too long before children are once again able to benefit from the incredible confidence building and self esteem raising opportunities a residential trip can bring.
All the very best,
Claire, Charlie & the Camp Kernow team
