Today we welcomed another two new practitioners to camp. Annie and Simon came to do traditional rope work with adventurers, repurposing old fishing rope destined for landfill into intricate rope work mats which can be used for a multitude of things.
Naomi came back today and this time taught campers how we can make our own personal care products such as lip balms, body butters and insect repellent using natural ingredients and creating products which are good enough to eat! We learnt lots about different herbs, oils and even got to try some delicious blends of homemade herbal tea.
Meanwhile over at the forge it was a hive of activity with Tristan, banging, heating and shaping iron into toasting forks and other useful items which will probably outlive us!
Later in the afternoon bushcraft and survival expert Ross shared with us the secrets to creating a good shelter before we packed up and headed to the forest for a wild wood sleep out. Dinner was cooked over the campfire and we enjoyed some singing with our very talented team member Poppy who, when she is not helping at Camp Kernow, writes and performs her own songs accompanied by her guitar. It’s torches off now as everyone gets tucked up for a night under the stars in the their shelters.
