We didn’t let a little rain get in the way of having fun today. Adventurers headed deep into the woods to experience technical tree climbing using ropes to ascend high into the canopy, swing upside down and even sit on a branch and hang out, quite literally! Matt, an amazing local wild food forager also came to camp and shared with adventurers the incredible wealth of food hiding in plain sight here at camp and along the hedgerows. So many edible and medicinal plants all around us if you know what to look for. After a forage it was time to head to the kitchen and cook up a delicious wild treat to try.
In the afternoon adventures were ready to tackle the climbing wall. Everyone got to the top of the 6m tower and were rewarded with a view across Truro to the cathedral. A hearty dinner of bangers of mash was cooked up by the chefs and some campers enjoyed their first ever experience of eating courgette which was harvested fresh from the garden. After dinner we played some team games and enjoyed a campfire and some S’mores!
Tomorrow Tristan will arrive ready to do some forging and we’ll welcome some new practitioners to camp including Ross who is a bushcraft expert and will be teaching the skill of making fire by friction. Time to get some sleep ahead of another busy day!
